If it freezes solid it will break!!!!!!
Drip is risky. Have a stream running and wrap so you will be happy with no work on your part. Risk and freeze and you will kick your self. I live in Indiana and under planning is just plain stupid when you know how easy it is to prevent..get out there and just do it, THEN relax…

I would let drip, because if you have only a small leak on spigot you will wet towel and cause the spigot to freeze even quicker.
